On April 24th, 2023, we had the privilege of being invited by Mr. Chatchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok, to join the French delegation alongside Mr. Thierry Mathou, French Ambassador to Thailand, Mrs Cécile Mathou, Mr Lionel de Coninck, Press and Communication Counsellor for the Ambassade de France en Thaïlande สถานเอกอัครราชทูตฝรั่งเศสประจำประเทศไทย, Ms Nalinee UDOMSINN and Mr Adam Cogan, Political officers, as well as Dr. Wisanu Subsompon vice governor of Bangkok, Mr. Atthaset Petchmeesri and Mr. Pornprom Na. S. Vikitset, advisors to the Governor of Bangkok, along with executives, government officials, and officials from the Drainage Department, Lat Phrao District Office.

During this visit, we explored the Lat Phrao Canal development site by boat and observed the environment within the canal. Additionally, we visited the canal-side housing development project and learned about the livelihoods of the local people living on both sides of the Lat Phrao Canal.

Our primary objective was to identify effective floating waste management practices and see how we can help.

An estimated 13 million tonnes of plastic waste leak into our oceans every year, harming biodiversity, economies, and people’s health and is set to triple by 2040.
