“Kon Kep Kong Kao: Empowering Communities Through Recycling and Ocean Conservation”

Our Licence To Clean project is making waves beyond just cleaning Phuket’s waters. Every day, local community members visit our LTC crews at Sarasin Pier, Royal Phuket Marina, and Kamala to collect recyclables and sell them at the Wongpanit Recycling Centre. This practice, known in Thai as Kon Kep Kong Kao – meaning “collecting trash for sale” – provides an important source of income while supporting environmental conservation.

By participating in this initiative, these individuals help reduce waste in our oceans while also acting as vital links between the foundation and their communities. Their involvement not only amplifies awareness of marine pollution but also encourages more people to take part in keeping our waters clean. This grassroots effort strengthens the impact of Licence To Clean and reinforces the idea that protecting our marine environment is a shared responsibility.
