This photo represents the pollution of the oceans by people. Plastic in the water is a huge problem. Sea creatures swallow it or get entangled in it and lose air access. Soon they die. Until when will people be so inconsiderate? How many more animals should die because of the carelessness of people? We call, Save the Ocean’s Soul! Stop wasting plastic in such a barbaric way! The ocean is for all of us. The ocean is each of us. Save it before it’s too late!

Title: SOS – Save Our Seas
This photo was taken at my first ever beach clean up in Phuket, at Nai Yang beach, after I moved here mid-2021. Three friends and I dragged this large mound of tangled fishing net that had washed up on the beach, removed segments of broken coral from the net, and removed it from the beach. This beach clean, and this photo, inspired me and two others to initiate ‘Plastic Free Phuket’ – a student led organization at UWC Thailand that beach clean every week, now with 50 members. Last year, we met with Governor Narong to propose our plastic bag ban, and hosted a plastic-free night market in January at Boat Avenue to promote sustainability in Phuket.
