French Ambassador’s Visit Showcases Oceans For All Foundation’s Key Projects in Phuket

On September 19th, Oceans For All Foundation had the honour of hosting His Excellency M. Jean-Claude Poimboeuf, French Ambassador to Thailand, and his wife Mariko Poimboeuf, along with Gulu Lalvani, founder of the Royal Phuket Marina, and other members of the French Embassy, for a tour of the Licence To Clean (LTC) project. The group boarded the LTC-003 Coastal Cleaner Catamaran stationed at Royal Phuket Marina (RPM), where Oceans For All co-founder Thibault Salaun provided insights into the daily operations of the vessel. Salaun explained how LTC-003 and other catamarans in Phuket and Bangkok contribute to keeping the waters clean, collecting trash, and promoting sustainable marine practices.

The French Embassy has been a long-standing supporter of Oceans For All’s mission, playing a crucial role in the foundation’s growth and impact. Additionally, Gulu Lalvani and RPM, Asia’s first and only carbon-neutral marina, have provided unwavering support by hosting LTC-003 and raising awareness of eco-friendly tourism initiatives.

The Ambassador’s visit also extended to the Pullman Phuket Panwa Beach Resort, where the group participated in a Re-Sharking activity. Oceans For All’s team guided the group through the Shark Nursery exhibition before releasing a juvenile bamboo shark into the sea. The Pullman Resort has been a key partner in the Shark Nursery project, which runs educational programs about marine conservation. The second nursery is based at JW Marriott Khao Lak.

Both the LTC and Shark Nursery projects highlight the collaboration between local partners and international supporters to protect Phuket’s delicate marine ecosystems.
