Our Seagrass nursery project yielded yet more fruit this week with the transplantation of around 100 seagrasses into the bay in front of Pullman Phuket Panwa Beach Resort. Joined by a group of guests committed to the conservation of our oceans, the foundation’s team and the resort’s staff ventured out into the already thriving sanctuary we have been steadily growing over the years.
A brief introduction to the seagrass nursery project was followed by the transplantation. An air of excitement surrounded the group as each of us had an opportunity to take part in planting the seedlings into their new environment.
Our goal is not only to bolster marine ecosystem biodiversity but also to amplify carbon sequestration. Remarkably, seagrass possesses the ability to capture carbon dioxide, surpassing land plants by 35 times. This underscores the vital role these plants play in mitigating climate change and preserving the health of our oceans.
